Tools for Social Change: Integral Sustainability and Life Practice

"Earth needs humans to figure out our shared destiny, says Alan Seid, whose interest is both the outer and inner dimensions of sustainability. Outside there's ecology, social systems and economics (e.g., in Permaculture). Inside is the psychological dimension of personal and group values and intentions. How do we meet people where they are, engender respect, promote crucial information-sharing, and motivate change?"

Alan Seid introduces an approach to positive change in the world that honors as much knowledge and wisdom from as many different sources as possible. Using Ken Wilber's Integral Framework, which places all fields of knowledge within a unified map, this model informs sustainability both in theory and practice, and gives us a framework for the work of creating integrated and whole lives. The workshop will interweave fundamentals of Permaculture, Non-Violent
Communication, and Financial Integrity – all within the context of Integral Sustainability.

With Permaculture Design:

  • An ecological design system focused on working with rather than against nature.
  • Learn how the principles of Permaculture inform many areas of sustainable, low-impact living.

With Nonviolent CommunicationSM:

  • Hear others more deeply and get heard the way you want to be heard.
  • Learn what really motivates people and how to catalyze true collaboration.
  • Improve personal and professional relationships by knowing how to create a high quality of connection.

With Financial Integrity:

  • Learn the 9 awareness steps applied to your personal relationship with money
  • Reduce stress and gain greater clarity with money
  • Reconnect with greater meaning and purpose in life and work

With Integral Sustainability and Life Practice:

  • Understand why many sustainability initiatives have failed
  • Make some key distinctions for getting traction
  • Learn how to gain the most knowledge and wisdom from as many sources as possible
  • Learn it's applicability to how we work together in groups.
  • Learn about the practical, 1st-person, experiential dimension of the Integral Approach, called Integral Life Practice.

Cost: $225, which includes 2 catered lunches.

Early bird special: $175 if registered by May 23rd (further discount available for those who want to have lunch on their own).

In the course of the interview on Peak Moment TV with Janaia Donaldson,
Alan Seid shared many of the concepts that are central to his vision of
Integral Sustainability. One Peak Moment fan commented, "What
an amazing video - of all the great Peak Moment video's I've seen, this
one really resonates with me. The depth and clarity of the topics
covered, unearthed new and different ways of thinking - well done!" Watch the interview here: http://www.wordpress.peakmoment.tv/conversations/?p=16
