Waterless Printing: Finally an Environmentally Friendly Commercial Printing Process.

Hi,

This is my first blogg.

I've been working in the printing industry for over 39 years and in that time, I've witnessed some extremely unfriendly environmental behavour within the industry.

The details of which shall remain unpublished.

During recent years however a new commercial printing process has evolved which does not use water, or alcohol in the printing process and the inks used are vegetable based.

It's called waterless printing.

It's also referred to as dry offset.

In additional, the waterless printing process uses around 40% less paper to set up a job.

Traditional offset printing processes use huge amounts of water & alcohol and, they use chemically based inks.

Although the process is a more expensive option, those that are serious about environmental issues willingly pay the extra costs involved.

And, if the consumer goes the next step and specifies 100% recycled paper for his printing, the overall impact on the environment by commercial printing is substantially reduced.

The percentage of printing companies offering waterless printing would be single figure and of those that do, some use it as a marketing tool as the process does actually produces a better print.

The colours are more dense and as a result are look brighter.

So, the printing industry has redeemed itself to some degree & may just be starting to look in the right direction.

A good thing!
