Ever wanted to learn how to build a worm farm to take care of all your kitchen scraps and create excellent organic fertiliser for the garden? Mike (aka cornonthecob), who some of you may recall from our first meeting, is having a worm farm working bee and bbq at his property just outside Bundaberg! Mike says:
"We’re looking at starting around 9am on the 13th of October (Saturday)…..finishing with a bbq lunch around lunchtime! We’ll be throwing together a worm farm….not a great deal of work is required but should be fun and we can talk about worms! :D
We will provide pork snags and chops for those who’d like to have some fresh pork cooked on the bbq….so please let me know if you’d like some (and how many people) so we know how much to get out of the freezer. You’re more than welcome to bring your own meat/food and we’ll also have some salad stuff, mini roast spuds and bread etc.
I will organise a table and chairs from our local community hall so there’s no real need to bring anything like that, unless you want to. You will however, need to bring your own milk, tea, coffee etc as we don’t drink anything like that. We can provide water and a kettle though! And cups! There’ll be a big esky here with ice for your cold drinks. Make sure you bring the obvious things…hat, sun screen etc. If it rains that day we’ll still go ahead…plenty of room to keep out of the rain here.
Bring any seeds and plants you might want to swap/give away. Bring some spare pots just in case you see something here you’d like a cutting of. Also (a bit of selfish selling here) I have heaps of organic seaweed & fish liquid fertilizer if anyone would like to buy some….Seaweed $5.50 lt Fish $4.50lt The main idea of the day is to get together and meet local like minded folk….have a talk and laugh and learn a little more about worms….and hopefully if all goes well plan the next get together!
Bring the family out! We look forward to seeing everyone on the day and I’m sure it will be a good day for all "
Jump on this opportunity to meet likeminded folks, have a great meal, and learn something new and very sustainable! Contact me ASAP if you'd like to go, and I'll pass on directions and Mike's contact details. Maybe we can even carpool! Please RSVP before October 6. Cheers!
